Fort Worth Chinese School was founded in 1982 by some enthusiastic Chinese parents who wanted to provide their children with an opportunity to learn Chinese which was the mother language of these parents. Its mission is to provide an interactive learning environment of learning Chinese and Chinese culture and to promote cultural exchange in the metroplex area. It offers free classes to anyone who is interested in learning Chinese and Chinese culture. Over the years, Fort Worth Chinese School has transformed from basically a home school to a recognized weekend school and a member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Chinese School Association. In 1994, Fort Worth Independent School District invited the Chinese School as part of the International Fine Arts program which offers young school kids a chance to explore fine arts. The program provides every students with free classes, free bus transportation, and holiday goodies. Classes are held at Unity Church of Fort Worth 5051 Trail Lake Dr. Fort Worth, TX 76133. The classes are on Saturday afternoons, instead of mornings. In the past few years, Fort Worth Chinese School has educated hundreds of children and adults. Our classes are designed to suit students of different levels. Currently, there are four classes in Fort Worth Chinese School: Chinese I, II, III, IV. Students are grouped based on their age and Chinese level into different classes and taught with text books published by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission and supplemental materials designed by teachers. The school periodically has activities to encourage students to use their knowledge in Chinese.
